Susan Itkin is an accomplished textile artist. Primarily utilizing the
centuries-old fabric dyeing technique of batik, she uses dyes and resists to create paintings, clothing, and home décor.
Susan’s work has been exhibited and sold throughout the metropolitan area. A
collection entitled “Seasons,” which portrayed the seasonal flora of the gardens and jungles of the world, was
exhibited at the River Edge Public Library in 2003. Her silk paintings decorated
the walls of Cool Beans Coffee House (2001-2002). Susan exhibited her batik at
the Paramus Public Library during the summer of 2004 and at Synaptic Pharmaceutical in Paramus during October 2004. During July 2005, Susan exhibited at the Atrium Gallery in the Bergen County Y, a JCC in Washington
Township. Susan
participated in the First Annual Fine Craft Sale and Exhibition at the Belskie Museum of Art and Science in Closter, NJ, November
6 - December 11, 2005.
Susan has taught crafts to children since 1994, leading silk painting workshops at the Oradell Arts and Business Coalition’s
Winterfest, and as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.
Susan studied batik at the New School for Social Research in New York. She minored in Fine Arts at Syracuse University,
where she obtained a B.S. in Communications.
